In Part 1, I discussed the fundamental benefit of the DRIP Faucet: when you make a deposit, it will return 1% of your deposited amount every day for 365 days. Depositing 10 DRIP (approx. $400 at today’s price) will yield 0.1 DRIP ($4) every day for the next 365 days, for a total of 36.5 DRIP ($1,460).

After fees (known in the protocol as taxes), the amount you would claim would be 29.56 DRIP ($1,182 or 295.6% return). [taxes will be discussed in a future article].

While this is an amazing return, what takes the protocol to the next level is the ability to compound your returns, which is called hydrating. If you hydrate your earnings every day, you will receive the benefit of compound interest, which turns your 365% return into an astonishing 3,778% return.

On top of this incredible return, your 365-day timer resets when you compound, extending your payout for 365 days after the compound.

It can be difficult to really understand the power of compound interest in the abstract, so Part 3 will present a case study comparing two scenarios for a 10-DRIP deposit. See you there!
