5 Ancient Proverbs from the Bible That Offer Practical Life Lessons
Ignore these at your peril
Even if you’re not particularly religious, you should avail yourself regularly of the wisdom found in ancient writings. No ancient collection of wisdom is full of more profound wisdom than the Book of Proverbs.
Here are five (5) proverbs — or wisdom sayings — from that ancient Hebrew book that offer practical lessons as relevant today as when they were first put into writing:
- Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
(Proverbs 4:23, KJV) - He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. (Proverbs 10:4, KJV)
- In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. (Proverbs 10:19, KJV)
- Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. (Proverbs 11:14, KJV)
- Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid. (Proverbs 12:1, NKJV)
The more you incorporate this wisdom consistently into your life, the better off you will be.
