This past weekend, the people of Russia had the opportunity to vote for the 2018 Russia World Cup official mascot.

Here were the finalists:

  1. A ginger cat
  2. A snowboard goggle wearing wolf
  3. A midget astronaut tiger

According to Russian broadcast report (take that with a g̶r̶a̶i̶n̶ block of salt), over a million Russians voted during the live television contest.

And at the end of the night, the winner was…Zapivaka the Wolf!

🎶 He’s got style 🎶

🎶 He’s got grace 🎶

🎶 He’s a winner 🎶

It pains me to congratulate our sworn enemies, but props to Russia. You done did good this time.

I mean, it’s not like they had much competition as Brazil’s 2010 World Cup mascot looked like a gay Pokemon…

Overall, we need to go back to the old mascot days as things just aren’t as they used to.

Pique, the Mexico 1986 World Cup Mascot still the G.O.A.T.
