StFX Day
Date #743 — Friday, November 27th, 2015
B: Every year the Toronto chapter of my old university, St. Francis Xavier, hosts a meetup. All the chapters around the world do. It’s on or near the feast day of St. Francis Xavier (Dec 3) and it marks the day we got our coveted gold rings.
Does that sound like a cult, because it kind of is.
The school has a population of approximately 4,000, but despite this people notice my ring everywhere and stop me. We missed the event last year, which was really sad because they ship in Pizza from Nova Scotia and that pizza is my favourite.
This past summer when we summited Nova Scotia’s highest point I took A for The Wheel Pizza and she fell in love too. So, of course we had to go.

It was a lot of fun. I saw tones of old friends and we shared laughs and memories. They talked about this website and then we took a photo (the one above) and I said, “this is going on the blog!” and they seemed cool with that.
I was really happy A came. I think those 4 years were really important to me and I think events like this help give her a better understanding of me. I know I definitely learned more (or was reminded of) many important parts of myself.
I find thinking about my past and the things that I am drawn to (for whatever reason) can be really telling.
A: B has been telling me about these meetups since we met, where St. FX (how do you spell it? StFX? Saint F.X.?) alumni meet up and eat pizza from the local pizza place — YES — they fly in pizza — and network and socialize and win prizes… We finally made it to one and enjoyed some delicious Wheel pizza. It’s kinda of hilarious and amazing that they fly in pizza. It’s a little unbeleivable. And it was so delicious. Garlic fingers too. Wow. Delicious. Just like we had after Date/Adventure #710. I joked with some of the people how it was pretty “culty” — their words — and I said, “Yeah, where’s your cloak?” It became such a weird joke in my head. I only said it once, out loud though. I liked that they could have these intimate meetups, though. If Carleton did that I’d probably not see anyone I knew because there were 22, 000 people at my school when I was there. Hah!
