The Most Amazing Packers Game We Have(n’t) Seen!!!
Date #746 — Thursday Dec 4, 2015
B: A was working a contract and so I normally didn’t see her until the evenings. I worked until she got home and then we both got ready to watch a very important matchup between the Packers and conference rival Lions.
The Packers weren’t doing well and really needed this win to stay in the playoff picture. It seems to me every year I’m dating A I get more and more in to supporting The Packers. The first half of the game was pathetic, with the Lions leading the Packers 20–0 up until 5:44 left in the 3rd Quarter.
But by the time that first touchdown was scored, A was already falling asleep. Two minutes later, when QB Aaron Rodgers ran a 17-yard touchdown, A was in bed. Then, when the Packers were down 23–21 and had time for one last play, when the clock ran out and there were two lateral passes and Aaron Rodgers was tackled and everyone thought the game was over, A was asleep. When there was a facemask call (a foul) and one more play allowed for the Packers, when Aaron Rodgers threw a 61-yard hail-mary pass and Richard Rodgers caught it for the win, A was asleep.
It was miraculous and incredible and I was so sad A missed it all and so thankful that she got me cheering for this team. I joyfully showed her the video the next day and she smiled with joy too. I’m happy we can share so many things together, even if it is a video recap and not the live game.
A: I was so tired! My work has been ramping up and I’ve been working 9–7 every day. When I got home, we got ready to watch the game, ate dinner, and when the Packers were loosing, I could barely keep my eyes open! When I woke up the next day I said, “Who won???” and B just looked at me saying, “I didn’t wake you up? I was being so loud!” and he wouldn’t tell me about the game until we watched the highlights. Of ALL THE GAMES to fall asleep during!!! I am acting like an old woman!!
I love B’s reaction, though, that he was being so loud, cheering to the game. I love that we share love for the same teams, coincidentally. It really makes each season a lot more fun that just watching on your own.
