Polkadot Hackathon 2023 Summer, jointly organized by Parity and OneBlock+, is now open for enthusiastic participants! Since the registration began on May 12th, we have received registrations from 37 teams worldwide and more than hundreds of developers in less than a month. Several participating teams have already identified their project directions, such as building a DeFi parachain, decentralized AI distributed training networks, computing power and model sharing chains, dynamic NFT projects, wallet plugins, and more. Registration for the 2023 Summer Polkadot Hackathon is Open Now!
By leveraging technological innovation to solve pain points, we aim to distinguish outstanding startup projects. Through this hackathon, we hope to discover and recognize good ideas and projects, accelerating their development and adoption for the benefit of the Polkadot ecosystem. To ensure a more professional, fair, and diverse judging process, the hackathon’s panel of judges consists of over twenty industry experts. Let’s unveil the powerful casting of judges for this hackathon!
Furthermore, we understand that startups may encounter various challenges during the hackathon. To assist participating projects in receiving better guidance and successfully completing their entries, we have organized 4 workshops. Similarly, we welcome everyone who is interested in Web3 and Substrate to join us, engage in mutual learning and communication. Perhaps you can find inspiration for your own Web3 entrepreneurship. Judges Casting
The judging panel for this hackathon consists of two categories: Hackathon Judges and Sponsor & Bounty Judges. They will provide professional, multidimensional, fair and unbiased evaluations for the participating projects. Here are the details about the judging teams.

Helena— — Parity Asia Head
Helena has extensive crypto and management experience. She graduated from Dartmouth with a Master’s Degree in computer science from the Ivy League in the United States. She worked for Visa, PayPal and Ant Financial.
Suvi Done — — Parity Engineer
Maggie joined Parity in 2019. She is mainly responsible for Substrate development, technology promotion and other work. At the same time, she serves as an enterprise lecturer of China Southern Airlines blockchain series courses. She has rich experience in smart contracts, cross-chain bridge and DID development.
Kaichao Sun — — Parity Engineer
Kaichao Sun has rich experience of Web 2.0 development. He joined Parity and Substrate in 2019. He has maintained the “Substrate Blockchain Development” Zhihu column. He wants to deliver complex technical concepts to more blockchain developers.
Jun Zhou — — Parity Engineer
Since 2020, Jun Zhou has been working for the Parity Asia team. He is mainly responsible for project support, Substrate development and technical promotion in the ecosystem.
Jimmy — — Substrate Contributor
As a full-stack developer, Jimmy believes blockchain will drive the next wave of technology revolution. He is now working on the expansion of the blockchain essentially layer technology. He hopes to introduce the flexibility of the Substrate framework to blockchain developers, and work together to build a future of multiple chains.
Ray Xiao— — IOSG Ventures Senior Direction
IOSG Ventures is an early-stage crypto fund driven by research and community. IOSG teams spread across Singapore and Lisbon. The portfolio contains: L1, L2, DeFi, GameFi, SocialFi and so on.
Alan Li— — Ausvic Capital Investment Lead
Ausvic Capital is an investor in Animoca Brands and Yuga Labs. It is also an early investor in Circle, Certik, Dfinity and more than 30 high-tech companies.
Yuxing— — SevenX Ventures Investment Manager
Yuxing has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Nanjing University. He previously worked as a data scientist in ByteDance Group’s Data Center, accumulating over 3 years of research experience in Web3. His focus lies in infrastructure investments, with particular attention to areas such as data, wallets and ZK technology.
Stanley— — Hashkey Capital Investment Manager
As a member of the HashKey Capital investment team, Stanley primarily focuses on investment opportunities in institutional services, Web 2.5 and various ecosystem applications. He is dedicated to collaborating with industry partners to contribute to the next wave of blockchain innovation.
Yukun Hao— — Wanxiang Blockchain Senior Director
Yukun Hao is a senior director of Shanghai Wanxiang Blockchain Inc., the secretary-general of the IEEE Computer Society Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Committee, an expert in ISO TC307 Blockchain Standards, an executive Committee Member of the CCF Blockchain Special Committee, and a visiting researcher of Imperial College London. He collaborated with Polkadot on Bootcamp for multiple years, incubating over 50 projects in total.
Alvin Lin— — Summer Capital Investment Director
Alvin Lin is the investment director of Summer Capital, a blockchain ecosystem fund, responsible for leading investment, due diligence and research activities. He completed transactions including SEBA Bank, Immutable X, HashKey Group, and more.
ian— — OpenBuild Developer Community Lead
ian is the founder and head of OpenBuild Web3 developer community, a senior open-source enthusiast. He was recognized as one of the 33 China Open Source Pioneers in 2022.

Mingshi Song— — Astar Senior Business Deveploer
Astar Network supports the development of dApps using EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) and WASM (WebAssembly) smart contracts, providing true interoperability for developers through Cross-Consensus Messaging (XCM) and Cross-Virtual Machine (XVM). Its unique Build2Earn model empowers developers to earn rewards for their code and built dApps through a mechanism that involves staking with their dApps.
Arthur— — Deeper Network Head of Blockchain
Arthur focused on interdisciplinary innovation in the fields of blockchain, big data and the Internet of Things (IoT). At Deeper Network, he played a crucial role in leading the R&D team in developing DEP (off-chain decentralized infrastructure). As a senior technical ambassador for Polkadot, responsible for the ecosystem’s “Substrate Technology Monthly Report” and authored multiple technical articles on platforms such as Zhihu, Bilibili, and YouTube, analyzing Polkadot technologies. In hackathons, he served as a mentor, providing technical guidance to multiple project teams. He led a competitive team to achieve first place in the preliminary round and second or third place in the finals.
Jessie Dai— — CESS Co-Founder & COO
Jessi Dai is a serial entrepreneur, an early-stage crypto investor, and the co-founder of CESS. As a believer in blockchain technology, she holds a steadfast vision of creating a shared, secure, transparent and global open-source data network. She is committed to promoting and building Web3 through practical actions and contributions.
Peter Volynsky— — Gear Technologies CTO
Peter Volynsky has extensive experience in product development, product management and technical leadership in multiple areas, including application development for project and business process management, system architecture, cross-platform development environments and processes, web and mobile applications, operating systems, virtualization, and cloud (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS). He trained a team of experts who are now core team members of Polkadot and other blockchain networks.

Pre-Competition Guidance Workshop is coming!
Currently, many developers have registered for the Polkadot Hackathon 2023 Summer. They are actively preparing for their projects. In order to provide a better competition experience, OneBlock+ will invite industry experts to deliver exciting pre-competition guidance from June 10th to July 1st.
The first workshop will be held this Saturday evening, so hackers are encouraged to set a reminder and join on time. By participating in each event and attending the offline DemoDay during the finals, you will have the opportunity to share the Travel Grant prize pool!
