Welcome to another edition of the Spotlight Series, where we try and recognize our most important asset — our people. We are proud of the talent we foster here, and want our clients to know more about the people behind the products. This month, we have chosen Ahmed Abdullah, who is the Lead Technical Project Manager (Implementations and Support) at OneByte. We had a chat with him to go over his career path and what led him to the point he is at today, having worked here for over half a decade now. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Hello Ahmed! Pleasure to sit down with you.

Ahmed Abdullah (AA): Thank you for having me!

Please tell us about your role/title. What do you do at OneByte?

AA: Lead Technical Project Manager (Implementations and Support) at OneByte

Why did you choose to join OneByte? How long have you worked here?

AA: I aimed to be a part of a rapidly growing startup with a people-focused culture and an environment of continuous improvement and learning, and OneByte provided me with the complete package. This is my sixth year here.

What made you choose your career path?

AA: I’ve always had a passion for leadership and technology, and this career path provides me with a perfect combination of the two.

What is your team like?

AA: High-performing and passionate group of individuals with a shared sense of purpose.

What motivates you to wake up and go to work each morning?

AA: The opportunity to drive high-impact projects, lead high-performance teams, and build scalable processes.

What have been your biggest accomplishments at OneByte?

AA: I’ve led technical client onboarding projects at more than 500 customer sites in a short span of time.

What’s the most unique part about working here?

AA: The freedom to work independently on critical projects here is a unique experience that helps us develop the self-confidence to take risks, make difficult decisions and solve complex problems every day.

How have you grown professionally while on our team?

AA: I’ve had the chance to wear multiple hats during my tenure at OneByte, ranging from technical to managerial roles, which allowed me to learn rapidly and grow professionally.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

AA: I like listening to science podcasts, and playing table tennis.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

AA: Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street.

Three words to best describe you?

AA: Value-driven, Detail oriented, Work in Progress

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

AA: Time travel! Imagine the endless possibilities to do good with that :)

After our chat with Ahmed, we also approached his manager, Muneeb Ali, to tell us his perspective on Ahmed. Here’s what Muneeb had to say.

What do you like the most about working with this individual?

MA: Ahmad is a hard worker and has always shown immense ownership of his work and is an amazing team leader.

Three words that describe this individual best?

MA: Trustworthy, very disciplined, extremely hard working

What has been this individual’s biggest contribution to your team?

MA: Ahmad has worked in different roles in the past few years in the company from technical to managerial roles. His dedication and focus to always learning and improving the way things work set him and his team up for success. Ahmed has never shied away from owning multiple responsibilities.

Outside of specific projects, what kind of impact has this individual had on your team in a positive way?

MA: Ahmad’s work ethic is above anyone I have come across, he has always led by example and been in the weeds with his team which makes him extraordinary.

Why did you nominate them for this program?

MA: Ahmad stood out as an engineer and then as a team lead managing multiple teams in Eon’s Engineering team and Ahmad will keep growing as a very distinguished individual in his professional career.
