In Defense Of Romanticism
A Brief Thought.
Overly enthusiastic. Endless reminiscing. Hopelessly romantic.
Romanticizing something, in all shapes and forms, allows us to bring disproportionate emotion to the table and make a moment or idea exciting. As someone that is very data-driven and aggressively works to remove bias from his decision-making process, there’s another part of me that is all the above.
Romanticizing is distorting reality.
Again, it’s powerful bias of it’s own. It’s super important to know when and how to shut it off and hit yourself over the head with reality.
But, on that same note, it’s that important visionary within us, the part of us that is able to get excited about what the future can be at the instant we imagine how it can happen.
It keeps things interesting, exciting, and hopeful.
