The Facebook Pixel. The Secret To Reoccurring Revenue For Businesses.
So what exactly is the Facebook Pixel? It is a unique line of code available to every business owner on Facebook. Now don’t let the word code scare you. It is simply a line of text generated by Facebook that you copy and paste into all the pages of your website.
So Why Do I Need A Facebook Pixel?
It was a Sunday morning and I was scouring the internet for a new pair of shoes. I finally found the pair I wanted. They were the so amazing and the exact style I wanted with fantastic reviews. Just like many online shoppers, I hesitated and didn’t purchase. I thought I would do some more research and maybe wait for a sale. Over the next few days this exact pair of shoes would show up in my Facebook news feed many times. First, it was just the shoes, the shoes I knew I wanted. Then there was an offer to get free shipping. Finally, I had a post in my Facebook news feed showing the exact pair of shoes I had been drooling over for 10% off plus free shipping! You would have thought I was on a gameshow as I clicked that button so fast and the shoes I wanted were delivered to my house the next day. I was happy and certainly the business I bought them from was happy. I had made a purchase and was now a customer. They now had my email and could reach me again in the future. In the marketing world we refer to it as retargeting, or remarketing.
There are two key goals in marketing. Make sure you reach the right audience and advertise to them at the lowest cost. The Facebook Pixel identifies who has visited your website, what pages they viewed and even how much time they spent on each page! You can even identify who went to checkout and did not purchase or who went to fill out your booking form, but did not submit. It is great for identifying people who are interested in your product or services. The cost to show advertising to this highly specific group is inexpensive for any business. You literally can show a dozen ads to the same person for less than one postage stamp!
But, I Am Not Currently Advertising On Facebook?
Well my first question would be, why not? It is one of the most inexpensive forms of advertising for a business owner. It’s cheaper than television, radio, billboards and even print advertisements like newspapers or town coupon books. You even have data to show that your targeted audience viewed your ad! I’d like to see a newspaper or magazine show you that data.
Even if you are not ready to start advertising on Facebook, every business owner should have the Facebook Pixel installed on their website. That is YOUR data and it is PRICELESS! The whole reason to have a website is to drive traffic to your business. Collecting data on that traffic to improve marketing is a must for any business. Marketing is all about targeting your potential customers and data allows you to do exactly that.
How Much Does the Facebook Pixel Cost?
This is the music to any business owner’s ears. It is 100% FREE. I’ve seen prices range from $100 to $350 to install the Facebook Pixel if you hired someone. You absolutely can do it yourself with a little research and work. If you hired a website management company, they should be able to install this for you free of charge. Although, I would question why any website management company has not already done this service for you as part of their services.
