Qwen: New Chinese AI taking on ChatGPT
Alibabaās new AI is aiming to do so much moreā¦ Letās have a gander, shall we, and see whatās what (and what isnāt).
Blimey, another AIās rocked up! š® Straight from China, mind you, and with a name that sounds like something out of a sci-fi flick: Qwen.
š Now, this aināt your run-of-the-mill upstart, oh noā¦
This is Alibaba, a proper behemoth, trying to give Silicon Valley a run for its money.
š° So, is it the real deal, or just another load of hype? Letās find out. š
What is Qwen (and Why Should You Give a Toss):
Qwen pitches itself as an āall-in-oneā AI solution. The current graphical interface is very similar to that of ChatGPT and seems to want to do what Cloude, Gemini and ChatGPT itself do. Obviously over time we will see what he will do and how he will do it ā¦ all with an open-source twist! š¤Æ What does that actually mean, though? And where does that leave us? š¤
The Interface: DĆ©jĆ Vu or Clever Strategy?
First impressions? Well, if youāve used ChatGPT, youāll feel right at home. š Nearly identical layout, same colorsā¦ A bit derivative, innit? But that familiarity could be a plus for some. š Make it easier to use if youāre already familiar with ChatGPT.
Functionality āAll-Inclusiveā (with a pinch of skepticism):
Qwen certainly offers a shedload of functions:
- š¼ļø Image and video generation
- š Web search
- š» Code creation
- š Planning
- š§ Brainstorming
And even more beyond these basic functionality. The question is: Is it any good at all this? š§ Time to roll up our sleeves and see whatās what.
Testing And The Art of Legalese:
Now you might be wondering how one can use all of this content, or what are the licensing and ownership terms. So before we move on, just a word of warning ā ļø.
