Creating convenient, simple, and secure user experiences is a key mission of Keyo, and our UI/UX design team works day in and day out to achieve this. In this edition of Life at Keyo, we will follow UI/UX designer Tolupe Oyewumi. Since joining the Keyo team in early 2023, Tolu has played a significant role in ensuring a consistent and seamless user experience for Keyo members.

Tolu’s days are typically filled with deep work sessions, meetings with Keyo team members, delicious food, and time spent volunteering to help those around her. Let’s dive in for a closer look at a day in the life of Tolupe!

A little about Tolupe

  • Tolulope is a Nigeria-based Product Designer dedicated to crafting seamless systems and bridging the gap between design and development.
  • She has worked at Keyo for six months, but Caye, her team leader, said it feels more like three years because of how quickly and easily Tolu integrated into the team! 😂
  • Tolu enjoys learning new skills, creating content, and trying new recipes.
  • She finds inspiration in lifestyle and travel vlogs during her spare time.
  • She is fascinated by true crime and investigative movies, and loves thought-provoking documentaries on African culture, tech evolution, and art.

6:00 am

Tolu kicks off her mornings by spending some quality time in devotion. For Tolu, this dedicated time at the beginning of the day sets her up for success. “It’s the perfect chance to connect with God, read the Bible, and reflect on life,” she says.

7:00 am

Today, Tolu and her partner are lacing up their running shoes and hitting the great outdoors for an energizing 8km jog. It’s a fantastic way to get their hearts pumping and set the tone for the day ahead.

8:00 am

Ah, breakfast time! She loves starting her mornings with a homemade breakfast. Today, Tolu treats herself to fluffy pancakes with a tasty beverage.

8:30 am

Once Tolu feels satisfied, she dives into planning and organizing her schedule. She takes into account pending tasks, checks her calendar for important meetings, and stays updated on the latest news and updates in our Keyo Slack channels. This time helps her stay on top of things and ensure a productive day.

9:00 am

One of her favorite parts of the day is diving into a period of deep work, which she prefers to do throughout the morning and into the afternoon. Today, she focuses on crafting comprehensive usage guidelines for our Pagination/Navigation component in the Design System. She is also eager to make progress on an educational slide that she’s been working on.

2:00 pm
Her schedule includes one meeting today — a quick chat with Keyo’s Chief People Officer, Lynda. It was a delightful conversation!

2:30 pm

After a productive morning and afternoon, Tolu’s hunger has reached new heights! She is treating herself to a delicious plate of Nigerian jollof rice with vegetables for lunch. Rice is a staple food in Nigeria and is one of her favorites!

4:30 pm

Tolu volunteers as a media partner for Gynix Afrika, an amazing NGO dedicated to empowering women through innovative health solutions in Africa. One of her responsibilities today is to live stream their radio outreach program on Instagram. Connecting with the organization’s audience in real time is an exciting opportunity.

6:00 pm

After a fulfilling but tiring event, she finally made it back home. Now it’s time for a well-deserved dinner with her partner. This meal holds special significance for them as it’s their most important time together during the day. It’s a precious moment where they can genuinely connect, unwind, and reflect on the day’s activities.

7:30 pm

Tolu has yet to have any evening meetings on her agenda today. It’s the perfect opportunity for her to wrap up any outstanding tasks, assess her progress for the day, reply to Slack messages, and tie up loose ends wherever possible. She also uses this time to review her to-do list, completing as many items as possible before calling it a day. For Tolu, it’s crucial to end the day on a productive note and set herself up for success tomorrow.

9:30 pm

Tolu typically uses this time to unwind, catch up on social media, and work on her coding capstone project. She may even indulge in watching some of her favorite vlogs! But tonight is different. She is going to call it a night and get some well-deserved rest. She is looking forward to a peaceful sleep after a productive day!

Ensuring our platform is easy-to-use and intuitive for every member is a top priority for Keyo.
