Nextcloud Conference was an event rich in many senses: people, ideas, knowledge, networking and opportunities for users and developers. We took as much of it as we could, as well as gave as much as we had.

You can read the full report on how we participated in the conference in our official blog, while here are ten charming facts about this year’s gathering:

  1. The conference took place in the capital of Germany, Berlin, a city with more museums than rainy days per year, as well as a home to the longest beer garden in the world.
  2. One of the most promoted agendas of the conference was diversity in open source development.
  3. During our speech, all of a sudden, we were welcomed by a loud applause when we touched upon blockchain development for document security.
  4. We met with representratives of Moodle community, pushing forward the idea of working on the official integration.
  5. People still show interest in working with ODT in ONLYOFFICE, which brought us to the idea of introducing ODT as default editing option.
  6. During a workshop we were asked if we are planning to introduce code co-editing in our editors. And we promised to take our time to think it over.
  7. On Saturday 26th, Nextcloud gathered everyone at a 100% vegan lunchbreak. On the same day we had a (not-so-vegan) BBQ at C-Base, a place on the bank of Spree, that imitates an alien spaceship where you can drink beer and code.
  8. Technical University of Berlin, a place where the part of the conference was held, is one of the most prestigious European universities and is already 139 years old. With all the stairs and old interiors, the university reminded us of Hogwarts castle from Harry Potter.
  9. As one may think, traditionally for Germany, the event was wrapped up with a party. It took place in Bar Babette, an artsy venue typical for Berlin: a little bit club-ish, a lot cultural and in no terms basic.
  10. During the get-togethers, our tech guys dicsovered that coding breaks language barriers!

You can truly say that you are a lucky individual if you participated in the Nextcloud Conference this year too. Please share your impressions below if so, or don’t miss a chance to join the conference next year. You absolutely won’t regret it!
