Again and again we deal with less than spectacular results. We may have even had success in the past, yet, that feeling or accomplishment still seems so fleeting.

In today’s video, I want to address what I call, the Ego Mind. Effectively, this is your conscious mind. What are you actively thinking about right now? That comes from your conscious mind.

The Ego mind has many benefits, it can keep us focused for extended periods of time. It helps us become completely present, yet at the same time, puts many barriers to success in our way.

The Ego mind, otherwise known as your conscious mind, is driven solely on outcomes, results, and endgames. An ego is defined as “a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance.” So in a sporting clays competition, when your “Ego” is on the line, your Ego or conscious mind, comes alive and really pushes to control the outcome.

These outcomes, as experience has often shown us lead to a sub-par performance on the course, frustration when leaving, and quite a bit of disappointment. Many of us are not aware that this is even happening. To them, they are trying extra hard to hit the targets. They’re really really focused. They have complete control of their thoughts and emotions.

Its kinda like in the movie Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (**SPOILER ALERT**) when Peter, the main hero of the movie, learns that he has a celestial power that he can control to move things, create energy fields and whatnot. However, despite his ability to conjure up the power, he can’t quite sustain the energy or make it big enough to defeat their enemy. He is trying relentlessly to defeat their enemy, but just can’t quite muster up the power. The rest of the team is getting pummeled, Peter was about to be defeated and things were looking grim.

Then in a crucial moment, Yondu an old friend who has a flying arrow as a weapon that he controls by whistling, gives some sage advice. “I don’t use my head to fly the arrow boy, I use my heart…” Peter has a moment of realization, and finally understands how to control this power he has.

This happens in our shooting abilities and all too often in our daily lives. We know we have these incredible talents, skills, and unique abilities, yet when it really counts we fall short.

The power lies in accessing what I call the Talent. This is otherwise known as your subconscious. The part of your brain that can process millions of things at a time without strain. The part of your brain that your skills have been engrained into.

By accessing the Talent, we give ourselves the ability to execute to our highest ability. In the video, I give several tips and resources to help you discover how you can start accessing your talent.
