About Ontology’s New Token Model

What benefits does the new economic model have for ordinary investors?

  1. The new economic model encourages node staking (minimum stake of 1 ONT, ONG unbinding rewards only go to stakers). This promotes ONT lock-up, which is in line with the secondary market investment lock-up design principle.
  2. The new economic model reduces the unbinding rate of ONG to 1/3, so the circulation rate is improved, which is in line with the primary market circulation design principle.
  3. The new economic model will help incentivize more casual investors to participate in network operations like staking and governance, thus narrowing the gap between investors and users and creating a stronger, more decentralized ecosystem

What are the benefits for nodes?

  1. The new economic model encourages node staking (minimum stake of 1 ONT, ONG unbinding rewards only go to stakers).
  2. The new economic model raises basic transaction fees to help cover node operating costs.

After the release of the new economic model, how can users participate?

  1. Stake with an existing Ontology node, strengthen the decentralization of the network and earn staking rewards for as little as 1 ONT.
  2. Become an Ontology node, strengthen the decentralization of the network, and earn staking rewards for as little as 10,000 ONT.
  3. Allocate assets into ONT and maintain liquidity but without earning staking rewards.

What does Ontology want to achieve after this change?

Our aim with these changes is to strengthen our ecosystem and better align the network towards our initial mission — pioneering new decentralized data paradigms.

About SAGA

Do I need to pay to use SAGA?

The SAGA marketplace allows for the safe and secure transfer and storage of personal data. Users only need to pay when purchasing data. The prices are fixed and listed on the website.

If I have valuable data, like copyrighted work, books, and/or magazines, can I put them on SAGA for sale?

Yes. Users can upload and sell their data following the rules outlined on the website and pending approval from the admins.

About Add-on Store

What kind of developers should use the Add-on Store?

  1. The Add-on Store will be of particular interest to developers who are familiar with Ontology’s infrastructure and protocols and who are willing to provide support for the further development of the Ontology ecosystem.
  2. Developers can use pre-defined add-ons provided by Ontology as well as create new ones. Once added to the Add-on Store, new add-ons can be utilized by other developers.
  3. The aim of the Add-on Store is to reach developers outside the blockchain industry and to make it easy for them to introduce blockchain and decentralized components into traditional applications.

Currently, access to the Add-on Store is invite-only. If you are interested, please email contact@ont.io.

I am a traditional (Java/Python/.NET/etc) developer, how can I use the Add-on Store to add blockchain to my project?

The Add-on Store provides “decentralized” components that traditional developers can integrate into their projects. Each add-on is divided into a configuration service and a runtime service, with the runtime service supporting tenant management.

The configuration service is managed by the Add-on Store. Developers can submit new add-ons via pull requests at https://github.com/ont-bizsuite/addon-index (test network debugging). After the request is merged, the add-on and configuration service will be included in the Add-on Store to provide the add-on to the Ontology developer community.

  • The Add-on Store supports native callback parameters such as add-on charging, ONTO/ONT Auth Scan Code, ONS binding, and verifiable statement verification;
  • Add-on development needs to support TestnNet services and one-click MainNet services;
  • If you are interested in developing add-ons, please contact the Ontology team at contact@ont.io.

Developers can visit the Add-on Store, select an Add-on, receive an SDK after configuration, and integrate it into their project. Please see the steps outlined below:

  1. Select Add-on
  2. Configure Add-on (configuration service is managed by the Add-on Store);
  3. Get Add-on SDK and configuration file;
  4. Integrate SDK and configuration files into your project;
  5. After configuring the Add-on, the Add-on tenant service will be started;
  6. Try to call the returned interface address to test whether the service is operating normally;
  7. After the test is finished, you can complete the one-click MainNet service deployment through a simple payment.

At present, most add-ons only provide a Java SDK. If you have other language requirements, please contact the Ontology team at contact@ont.io.

What kind of projects can the Add-on store enable?

  1. Decentralized account identity verification and authority management systems using Ontology’s ONTO users as potential customers;
  2. Payment transactions supported by ONTO;
  3. Decentralized data permissions, exchange, and transactions.

Do I need to pay Add-ons from the Add-on Store?

The Add-on Store provides both free and paid services depending on developers’ needs.

About Open Knowledge Graphs (OpenKG)

As a normal user, how can I use OpenKG?

OpenKG is a community project that aims to promote the opening and interconnection of knowledge graph data, the open-sourcing and openness of knowledge graph algorithm models and tools, and the popularization and application of knowledge graphs and semantic technologies. To participate, you need to first apply to join OpenKG before you can publish your open resources on OpenKG.

Do we need to pay for OpenKG data?

The decision to charge or not should not be determined by the platform, but by the knowledge and data providers. The purpose of Ontology’s technology is to ensure the appropriate allocations of power in many knowledge usage scenarios and systems and to stop the abuse of data by third parties.

Will OpenKG support multiple languages?

  1. There are many OpenKG-like projects in the world, with different projects supporting different languages.
  2. OpenKG is primarily in Chinese, while, at the same time, maintains active communication with other projects internationally. It is anticipated that OpenKG will launch multilingual support in the near future.

We will continue to collect community questions for Ontology 2.0 and update this article.
