Ontology held its official launch on Monday, November 27th, 2017, in New York City. Over 200 attendees from within the fintech scene and beyond came together at 28 Liberty Street, iconically situated next to Wall Street, a center for traditional financial systems.

Li Jun, Founder of Ontology, headed the event by introducing Ontology. He discussed how the ecosystem addresses current issues in trust networks, as well as how its components work together to build a trust system fit for all industries. Applying the framework to different business scenarios, Li described how adoption of NEO’s smart contract system will strengthen the two projects, building a system accessible for conventional businesses. He also anticipated future Ontology white papers, which will be released in the coming months and continue to further explain the infrastructure of the project.

The Q&A session for Li’s speech cleared some questions surrounding Ontology. Li explained the ecosystem supports multiple blockchains and can act as an index for where data is stored. Li also emphasized the government support for blockchain development in China, and pointed to our existing collaboration with the Chinese local government to track and manage identity information.

Da Hongfei, Founder of NEO, began his speech by sharing NEO’s timeline and introducing existing and upcoming projects, including a development competition early next year. He further explained NEO’s status as a compliant smart economy and its nature as a community-driven and -funded NPO that supports collaboration with external developers and academic institutions.

Talking about Ontology, Da explained how it will work with multiple systems to provide a solution for ordinary businesses to run on the blockchain. Its open infrastructure for distributed trust allows users to compile, control, and authorize the use of their identity information and other data, turning ordinary data into tradable data assets. Da further explained how NEO can be used in Ontology to issue tokens and trade them with NEX.

After a coffee break AlphaCat (https://www.alphacat.io), THEKEY (https://www.thekey.vip/), QLink (https://qlink.mobi/f/qlink), Deep Brain (http://www.deepbrain.ai/), and PeerAtlas (http://www.peeratlas.com), all part of the NEO ecosystem, presented their projects to the community, followed by a networking session.

In the evening Ontology held a join meetup with NEO, which brought together the China and US blockchain communities to share knowledge and ideas, answer further questions, and discuss the future development of decentralized projects between the two regions.

We look forward to meeting more individuals across the globe interested in becoming a part of our ecosystem. In the meantime, you can keep up to date with us through our social media channels. Thank you New York, until next time!
