Ontology Ranks Fourth on China’s Latest CCID Rank
On December 20th, China Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID), under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, published the latest rankings of its Global Public Blockchain Technology Assessment Index (GPBTAI). Ontology is ranked fourth on the list, with a composite index of 112.6.
The assessment is organized and implemented by the Blockchain Institute of CCID under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, with joint participation with the CCID blockchain institute, CCID think tank, China Software Testing Center, and experts from Peking University, Tsinghua University, and other top universities and industries in China. CCID’s GPBTAI has been updated every month since May 2018. It has become an important reference for technological innovation in public blockchains across the world.
The index evaluates public chains in three aspects: basic technology, applicability, and creativity. The basic technology part mainly evaluates technical implementation, including the level of security and decentralization. Applicability mainly evaluates support for practical applications, including node deployment, wallet applications, development support, and application implementation. Ontology ranks top five in terms of applicability. Creativity mainly evaluates continued innovation, including the developer scale, code updates, and code influence. This is the part expected to be most important in future changes to index ranking.
There are two key characteristics of public chains that perform well on the index. The first is public chains that have high performance and provide support for application development. The second is newer-generation public chains; four of the top 10 chains are public chains launched their MainNet only in 2018.
