This week we joined forces with NEAR Protocol in an effort to expedite the development and deployment of secure decentralized identity solutions. We also continued performance testing with bloXroute, underlining our profile of providing reliable technical assistance to our partners. In addition, we are delighted to share the news that the Ontology website is now available in 7 different languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and German.

- Ontology v.2.1.0 launched on TestNet

Product Development

ONTO v3.1.0

- ONTO and MakerDAO launched a joint initiative to encourage the use of DeFi services on MakerDAO. Approximately 1,000 users participated in the activity, with 300 users set to receive incentives of 2,100 ONG.

ONTO v3.2.0

- ONTO v.3.2.0 development is now complete and will be introduced to users soon.

- 70 dApps live on Ontology

- 6,036,078 dApp-related transactions since genesis block

- 83,989 dApp-related transactions in the past week

Bounty Program

- Recruiting SDK community developers

Community Growth

- We welcomed 524 new members across Ontology’s Persian, Tagalog, and Bengali communities.

Newly Released

- Ontology’s website is now available in 7 languages: English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and German.

- Ontology teamed up with NEAR Protocol to accelerate the development of decentralized digital identity solutions. Ontology will provide technical support for NEAR’s DID from a regulatory perspective to enable smart contract implementation and W3C registration.

- Ontology continued performance testing with a focus on improving CPU utilization of relay nodes at a very high TPS. Moving forward, Ontology will focus on BDN performance during periods of slow internet and improving the speed of blockchain propagation, as well as adding a new block stream and OnBlock events stream.

Global Events

- Andy JI, Co-founder of Ontology, was invited to participate in IEEE BDL Standards Committee Plenary. As an international blockchain standard expert, he contributed to the approval of Plenary decisions and two P3200s standards (P3207 & P3210). During the plenary, Andy offered Ontology’s insights and expertise in digital identity on multiple standard proposals. In addition, in the last month two IEEE blockchain standards (2143.1 and 2140.5) developed with the help of an Ontology technical expert were successfully released, reinforcing Ontology’s continuous efforts in contributing to industry standard development.

- On August 5, Andy JI, Co-founder of Ontology, was invited to a panel discussion themed “How will public chains cope with new challenges in DeFi ecosystem?” at 2020 FINWISE Online Summit. FINWISE engaged representatives from leading public chains and multiple industry experts in a constructive discussion on the DeFi ecosystem and investment.

- Jun LI, Founder of Ontology, was invited to the public chain session of CoinW’s 3rd Anniversary Cloud Online Party on 10 August. He exchanged inspiring insights with other leading figures of public chains on topics ranging from public chains and DeFi to blockchain applications.
