Being a developer is like being an artist. You have to be creative with ideas and paint(code) them into a beautiful, meaningful art(project). To make sure that a developer is ready for big projects, he/she should have the skills enough to program small projects.

Making projects is a great way to show your skills and knowledge. It is really important to keep working on new projects to get good practice as well as to flaunt those projects in your portfolio. Your portfolio is your marketing piece and the projects are like the cherry on top. The best way to learn to code is to fail and try again until you develop something meaningful and developing a project is a great way to learn to code and exercise your coding skills. The most important thing for a developer is to keep on going after every failure.

In a country of over 1.4 billion where every year over 5 million developers compete, an aspiring developer must have hands-on experience with real-world projects. Working on projects will not only test your skills as a developer but also make you self-aware of your skills, strengths, and weaknesses and will help you improve upon them.

This blog will highlight a few fresher projects for developers that will help them make a strong portfolio. So here are a few projects for developers to work on:

  1. Attendance system based on an eye scan
Eye scan based attendance system

A time attendance system application that uses the picture of the iris as a means of authentication will be safer and more successful. It will also be easy to use as Iris recognition verification is one of the most reliable personal identification methods in Biometrics. This will also enforce paperless attendance which is really hard to manage at times. The system will be based on biometrics and wireless techniques will solve the problem of spurious attendance and the trouble of laying the corresponding network. The attendance will be more easy and efficient.

To use the attendance system, the user needs to log in to their account using their eye scan. Once they give their eye scan, the system will match it with all the eye scans stored in the student database. In case there is a match, attendance will be added to their name along with the time of attendance and this can be viewed in the system. Furthermore, the user can also access the time and dates when a person was late or on leave.

2. A job application website for people with disability

Job application website

At a time when everything is developing at the speed of light, it is really hard to get a job and for people with disabilities, it has become furthermore difficult.

A job application website that is easy to access and use with good UI/UX will make sure that they are provided with a medium where they can grab all opportunities that are for them. The website will have a registration page where the user can insert details about himself, an advertisement page where all companies can advertise their jobs, and what kind of job profile they are looking for. Once the user log in, the website will match them with jobs suitable to their profile and area of work. The user can then select a job and apply their job application to it along with their portfolio.

3. Digital Lab

Digital Lab Software

An application for students of classes 11 and 12 where they can perform different experiments. For example, in case they select salt analysis; the person can drag the test tube to the experiment area i.e. the center of the screen, and fill it with the unknown salt by pressing its logo. He can then select the test he wants to perform on the salt, whether it is a litmus paper test, flame test, or any other test. In case he selects the flame test, automatically logo of the burner and platinum wire will come on screen with instructions on how to perform the flame test.

Here this application will make sure that students not only learn about theory but also learn virtually without actually using the lab equipment. This application can also be used for conducting examinations and will make sure that students can perform lab tests while sitting at home.

Conclusion

The secret to becoming a successful software developer is to work on side projects. The more you experiment, the better you will be at programming and projects are a great add-on to the portfolio.
