It’s hard to think about back to school shopping in the middle of summer. However, the best way to save money is to plan ahead so you can take advantage of every savings tip that comes your way. Check out a few of our favorites:

· Every child wants new clothes when they go back to school, however, prices typically go down in September after school starts. A new strategy might be to buy one new outfit to wear on the first day. Then do most of your shopping when prices drop in September or October.

· Host a back-to-school swap with other parents and trade clothes, sports equipment, scout uniforms, or whatever it is you may be looking for.

· Take inventory before shopping for school supplies. You will have an idea of what you actually need to buy and keep you from buying something you already have on hand.

· If your school has a list of school supplies, stick to it. School supply lists offer a guide to what is important to purchase. Sticking to it avoids impulse buying and/or possibly not getting the right things at all.

· If you know you’re going to do most of your shopping at stores like Target, Kohl’s, and Old Navy, check out sites like Gift Card Granny, Card Cash and Gift Cards to purchase gift cards at a discount and use them like cash. For more information go to:
