What do you think of when you think about finance? Do you think of budgets and credit scores? Maybe the pitfalls of an extravagant life style or the rise and fall of the stock market?

Personal finance is that and so much more. Check out our top five favorite family finance movies to share with family and friends. Popcorn optional.

Pursuit of Happyness is the story of a single dad (Will Smith) and his young son, evicted with no place to go. Chris gets a job as an intern at a brokerage firm that pays no money as he struggles to create a better life for himself and his son.

Trading Places is a comedy that thrusts star Eddie Murphy, who plays a young homeless man, into the world of finance through circumstances outside of his understanding. He manages to trick experienced financiers and let the chaos begin.

Lucky, a HBO documentary, highlights the lives of “big winners” and “big losers” of the lottery. “Winning the lottery is like throwing Miracle-Gro on your character” is a classic line.

In the film, Wall Street, a young and impatient stockbroker is willing to do anything to get to the top, including trading on illegal inside information.

The light-hearted comedy, Money Pit, is the story of a homeless couple who buys a country estate for a suspiciously low price. It soon becomes apparent why as doors fall off their hinges, staircases come tumbling down and a bathtub falls through the floor.
