💎 Recommended BGM for this month’s newsletter :)

This beautiful song by ROZES has been my personal favorite throughout this month 😉 (listen on Ooh La La):

The Monthly Wrap Up is a newsletter that provides the community updates on the progress of Ooh La La. From partnerships, media coverage, bug fixes, and new feature launches, to tiny (but important 💫) UI/UX improvements will be recapped via this newsletter!

🍹 Public Relations & Press Coverage

Twitter Space with Water & Music DAO

We joined a conversation with other web3 music streaming projects and Water & Music DAO! Visit here to playback the recorded Twitter Space. We discussed what challenges we are facing in building a product in the current web3 music industry, what items are on our roadmaps, and how the music aggregation layer can convert listeners into collectors and reshape artist-fan relationships, etc.

Twitter Space with Releap

We held another Twitter Space with Releap, the music NFT platform on Solana. Releap and Ooh La La teams are both interested in onboarding artists from the countries that are underrepresented in the music NFT industry, and we’ve also been talking about integrating Solana into Ooh La La and arranging our agendas. Stay tuned!

The Beginner’s Guide for Musicians to Web3

We published this comprehensive guide for musicians who are considering expanding to the NFT market, to help them learn about the fundamental concepts and to provide a step-by-step tutorial on how to mint NFTs on different platforms. We will keep producing educational resources in the upcoming months, so please follow our Medium to receive notifications!

We Got Mentioned by Billboard!

Billboard mentioned us in their article along with other web3 streaming services.

It needs a little modification tho: we don’t actually require our users to own NFTs to make a playlist. But playlists are indeed our key feature to help normie listeners navigate through the newly emerging industry, thank you for mentioning it!

💎 From the Community

@nftmusicinfo created and shared a smashing explainer video of Ooh La La. We sincerely appreciate your contribution, and would like to express our gratitude again!

🧑‍💻 Notes from Dev Team

Music NFTs going mobile!

The long-awaited mobile app has finally arrived! We’ve released our v1 apps on Google and Apple app stores. Download the apps via the links below, have some time navigating the features, throw some parties with your own playlists or use it however you like, and give us feedback!

🍎 iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/ooh-la-la-player/id1636453776

🤖 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.spiderville.oohlala

We successfully launched the advanced search (search filter based on platforms/track length/minted amount/mint date/chains) feature earlier this month, and we’ve been receiving positive responses from our users. However, to make the mobile app lighter and best optimize it for the streaming service, we decided to exclude the feature from it. We will first focus on improving the app to deliver the best music NFT streaming experience, and then introduce features that are most suitable for the mobile environment.

Track and browse your assets more efficiently at a glance!

You can now check the number of music NFTs (# of 💽s) you own from your profile page.

Customize your playlist covers!

You can now upload an image for a cover of your playlist! Click on “Edit” on your playlist page to try out the feature. 😉

Shuffle any playlist!

We’ve added a SHUFFLE (🔀) button to every playlist. It will start playing the tracks in a randomized order, and make your listening experience one of discovery and surprise.

Charts introduced: Weekly Top 30 & Hot Releases 30

To provide more context to the newbies in the industry, we introduced these two charts.

Weekly Top 30 is ordered by the number of plays during the last 7 days among all tracks on Ooh La La. The only difference between the two is the pool where the tracks come from. Hot Releases 30 only takes into account the number of plays of the tracks that are released in the last 4 weeks.

You can also listen to the tracks in the charts in a form of playlists (Weekly Top 30 Playlist, Hot Releases 30 Playlist), and they will be automatically updated on a daily basis!

Like button works much faster now!

We adopted an optimistic UI in the Like button to reduce the latency and improve the user experience. Basically, it’s a technique of showing the result of the interaction first before getting a response from the server. This may sound like a very tiny modification, but we believe that these small steps are vital components of our progress toward a better user experience!

Search any addresses (or ENS) to view their profile pages!

You can now look up others’ profiles to browse what music NFTs and how many they have with their wallet address or ENS, even if they haven’t connected their wallet to Ooh La La.

Opened up the “From the Community” category!

When we first tested out the prototype of Ooh La La (the pre-launch version), the majority of the feedback we got from the testers was that it was hard to figure out which song to listen to, because many of them didn’t have any previous experience with music NFTs. It led us to create 200+ playlists, organizing the tracks according to different situations, activities, genres, places, and themes, as we believed that playlists are the most efficient way for our users to discover new music and share their tastes.

We consider ‘creating playlists’ as a certain form of remix culture that allows us to combine others’ experiences into our own narrative. Playlists have particular significance in the current music NFT landscape, as many of the tracks are released as a single song rather than an album — it provides an opportunity for listeners to construct unique albums with their favorite tracks, according to their own themes.

From the Community category will show 20 playlists that are created most recently. Look what others are listening to, and if you love their curation, click on the heart (❤️) button located under the title to add it to your Likes feed!

Edit your profile!

Click on the ‘Edit Profile’ button on your profile page to add personal info, set a username, upload a profile pic, and verify your Twitter account. Your username and profile image can be viewed by other people who use Ooh La La’s services.

We’re a small-sized team, but we are working around the clock to deliver everything on time. If you would like to support our efforts and wish to connect with other artists & users, come join our community!
