Secure parking for bicycles and scooters should be affordable and easy to use for cyclists, and hassle free to property owners. With this formula we could scale these kinds of facilities across New York and New Jersey.

Yet, building and operating high quality infrastructure is an expensive proposition. The cost of building just one kiosk can exceed $65,000, and the operational burden of maintaining and cleaning the infrastructure can add thousands more per year in operating expenses.

To cover these expenses, we propose to treat secure bicycle parking infrastructure just like bus-shelters, bike-share and newsstands; allocate room for tasteful sponsorship and media. The revenue from sponsorships and adverts is more than enough to help us maintain our current locations, while financing new ones.

But we can’t do this without your help.

The outdoor advertising industry is worth more than 30 billion dollars, but it’s hard for new formats, like Oonee, to break through. There has never been media or sponsorship on bike parking facilities before. With just a handful of locations, we’re still trying to get noticed by the big brands.
