Sample episode — “What Parents Should Know About Pediatric Dental Sedation & Anesthesia”: Every year, the American Academy of Pediatrics hosts their Annual Leadership Forum, which brings together pediatricians to present the most important ideas in their field. A few hundred ideas surface, and the AAP selects around 10 to focus on for the year. In 2017, they chose to put safeguards in place to prevent irresponsible dental procedures that put children’s health at risk. As the title suggests, the episode discusses how to prevent adverse events and outcomes in kids who are undergoing any dental procedure that requires anesthesia or sedation.

Tidbit about the show: The show looks at what’s changing and what hasn’t in pediatrics and parenting and how evolving medicine can support parenting.

About the host: Wendy Sue Swanson, MD is a mom, pediatrician and blogger. She is currently the executive director of digital health for Seattle Children’s Hospital. She also acts as a news reporter for NBC KING5 in Seattle.
