Opacity — March Interim Update
It’s been about 2 weeks since our last update, so I wanted to give everyone a quick peek into what’s going on and what’s coming.
March Marketing
March is marketing month. I’ve hired Aron Hiltzik to help part-time with our marketing plan and implementing marketing campaigns over the next few months into launch. He has jumped in with some great ideas and we’ve already started executing on them.
In the near term, I have an interview with CCN this week which will likely appear in an upcoming article. We also have another article in the works for Altcoin Buzz that should line up later this month. These will help get us further along in the journey for increasing exposure.
In order to further support exposure, we are making progress on a major piece of marketing material for this Friday that everyone will be able to share. Along with this marketing material and to help promote sharing, be on the lookout for an OPQ giveaway promotion, most likely coming up next week!
Smooth Sailing
So far, 1.0 is still on track. Market overall has been lackadaisical, and it seems that many are waiting on Bitcoin to confirm a bottom. Opacity team is laser focused on the upcoming launch and completing some product integration work so we can dive into testing going into the end of the month. Our runway is still sufficient, and we are looking forward to the launch to give everyone the storage platform we have all been anticipating.
Team Changes
In addition to bringing in Aron, we also have some folks leaving us, unfortunately.
Taylor French has accepted a new role to take the next step in his career, but will be available to the team part-time for design or other work, if needed. He has put in a great effort on the recent rebranding and this will become more apparent with the new website and storage site design for 1.0.
Also, Alex K has stepped down as a Community Manager, but will be helping the team on a volunteer basis. We had reduced need for the role, so Alex recognized it and proposed this to help reduce costs.
I thank both of them for all the efforts they have provided the project even when times were tough!
Lastly, we have shutoff all servers that are not in use since we will no longer use the tangle. Hosting costs will be reduced significantly for March, down over 80% from costs in January.
All these changes will help significantly to reduce team costs and extend the runway.
