With a huge win under our belt with Opacity 1.0 release, the team hasn’t slowed down on continuing development for Opacity 1.1.

Roadmap Approach

Near term releases will come in waves and be deployed as features are completed. We’ll be using ‘.1’ increment versions as milestones to complete a short term ‘phase’ typically lasting several weeks at a time. Grouping them this way gives us a ‘theme’ to work with to make sure priorities are focused, aligned, and the team is not spread thin on development efforts.

Opacity 1.1

The primary theme for Opacity 1.1 is to complete some of the MVP features that were not included in initial release. ‘Must haves’ like folders, Account Handle recovery, and regional filtering are essential to user needs and corporate compliance. ‘Should haves’ are also included with file preview and streaming downloads which lend significant improvements to the user experience. Enabling larger plans is the first step into expanding our offering for the many people who are waiting to buy a plan that can support their larger storage needs.

Development is in progress at the moment and you can expect these items to be released to market over the next few weeks.

Top Secret Features

So, what are the top secret features?!?

Well, these features have been discussed in our Telegram channel several times as being important to users and to Opacity’s business growth. They have been under wraps for a couple of reasons, but mostly because there were some challenges to development and it was difficult to judge the timing to deliver them. While no firm date is set at this time, I feel comfortable sharing them now since they have both moved past initial research stage.

Windows Desktop Sync App

The Opacity desktop application will work on Windows desktops and allow local file sync to your Opacity account. This is typical of other storage providers and allows significant ease of use to the platform. Along with the larger plans, this will enable us to meet the needs of a broader set of our customers.

The app will include the ability to:

  • Link user to site for sign-up ✅
  • Login/logout ✅
  • View account storage avail/used ✅
  • Choose local sync folder ✅
  • Sync at periodic interval (tbd) ✅

Credit Card Acceptance

Opacity will be accepting fiat payments for storage in the very near future. Accepting fiat payments enables us to bring our zero-knowledge platform to a much broader audience outside the crypto ecosystem. OPQ tokens will remain the primary means of payment and the primary choice for maintaining full user privacy.

Using credit cards effectively means giving up some of your privacy for convenience. You will need to provide personal details that allow us to have the transaction approved with the credit card processor — typically name and address, at a minimum. While we won’t store this data, the credit card processor might. We believe our customers should decide if this is a desirable trade-off, while we continue to educate regarding the Privacy Problem. OPQ will be available as more and more people realize there is a better way to make payments and transact business.

At this time, Stripe is the chosen credit card processor.

Fiat payment plans will be priced at standard market prices equivalent to other market storage providers. U.S. dollar amounts will be displayed alongside OPQ price to offer an easy value comparison. Additionally, OPQ paid plans may offer exclusive features not provided with fiat plans. Details are still under consideration. Fiat plan costs will be shared at a later date.
