Understanding sudo (Linux tips)

sudo is very often used for Linux administration. In this story, I will explain exactly what it is and how to use it.

sudo is a contraction of ‘superuser do’, which refers to the superuser.

If you run a command for which you do not have the necessary permissions, a Permission denied error message is displayed:

less /etc/sudoers

The output of this command is:

/etc/sudoers: Permission denied
