Call for Consultancy — Web Designer

Open Heroines is looking for a creative Web Designer to help us build a new website.

We are a growing organisation that supports women and non-binary people working in the Open+ spaces, i.e. Open Data, Open Government and Civic Tech.

The current website is hosted on Medium. We are looking to change the platform to Webflow.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working remotely with a geographically-distributed team. You may be in any time zone. However, we prefer candidates who are available for communication between 12 pm and 5 pm GMT.

Responsibilities will include:

• Build out a website on Webflow (other methods can be considered)
• Design page layouts, static and motion graphics
• Migrate content from the current site to the new one
• Conceptualise and create intuitive, engaging, and brand-consistent web experiences
• Implement and maintain high-quality SEO policies and incorporate them with web content
• Undertake regular A/B tests to optimise results
• Liaise with the Communications Lead to ensure that tasks are completed on time
• Collect and analyse data on website usage to improve performance
• Respond to reports of technical problems and work with the team to fix them quickly

Desired skills and experience

• Working knowledge of a range of software, hardware and operating systems
• Experience in providing and implementing website designs with PHP, Python, CSS3 (SCSS), Javascript, and Responsive Web Design to modern standards
• Acquainted with Google Optimise or similar A/B test platforms
• An understanding of Google Analytics
• Competence in UI/UX design is a bonus
• Knowledge of user experience best practices
• An understanding of the key principles of branding
• Knowledge of typography and an understanding of colour theory

Open Heroines is offering a budget of up to $15,000 USD. The contractor will need to cover all legally required deductions, taxes and benefits out of this amount.
