Ducky grabbed piper by the back of her tee as she attempted again to deep swim to the life boy 2 nautical miles away. “Piper combat swimming takes time to learn and while you swim well, I’m getting tired of dragging you back ashore.” Piper was frustrated. She had set her goal to be a fully functional member of Alpha within 2 weeks. Everyone had encouraged her. All but her twin. “Piper, it took 2 years of swimming every day to meet the standard.” Eowyn smiled at her, “Combat takes time to come to terms with. You have to put away the concept of a tomorrow. Until you do you’ll be making that swim again and again.” She hated him for that comment.

But she kept coming to the beach every single day. The security in a boat just in case once again they had to pull her out of the water. “Ducky, I get in the water and all the mechanics from my swim team just fall apart.” Ducky not wanting to ruin another pair of Diesel jeans looked at and was about to say something profound when Eowyn ran over the field towards them. “Hey Piper, how many attempts does this make?” Ducky turning slowly towards his best friend pronounced the verdict. “This would be number 14 Alpha Actual.” Eowyn winced at that. “Jeez that’s tough, how many times did it take you, Ducky?” Ducky turned to Piper. “Once. You buddy?” Eowyn winced at that. “Ah yeah once. Piper, maybe you should try this.” And with that, he dropped the dry suit in the sand.” She passed her swim test that morning. Her brother helping her from surf smiled and extend a hand. “Welcome to Alpha 1 Cowboy, remember you asked for this.”
