Sooooo there are a few good titles coming in 2018. There should be way more than 25 given the investment that gamers like myself have put into the purchase of the console alone…but I digress.

Dragon Ball FighterZ seems to be the best option available first quarter. The videos all seem to show classic game play. No epic sounds or reimaging of the characters just good game play with the cartoon feel that as an GenX reminded me of being a kid. It’s a game I can play with my kids.

Far Cry 5 is a rehash of every Far Cry shooter……sigh. It seems like there isn’t a willingness to expand the world beyond the single shooter Montana extremist group environment. This platform could go way deeper and be way more relevant by staying closer to today’s news events. This feels very early 2000’s and that could be a problem long term.

Finally, Sea of Thieves, I hope this isn’t the Disney Pirates of the Caribbean like game the marketing is making it out to be. There is a lot of classic pirate genre literature that is begging to be made into a game. But alas, this game is wholesale stealing from the Pirates of the Caribbean success model. C’mon guys we have to quit buying this garbage if we want anything to change!

So these are the three coming attractions that are close to being worthy of the your $59.95. Yes it will be good game play, but as I have written earlier, the shelves are bare over at Microsoft. Unless they can get their act together they risk being over taken by Playstation. A good platform can’t survive on mega hits alone. A good platform needs a lot of content, inexpensive content, simple to play content. Microsoft needs to get this and soon.
