Lace up while lock down
Another lock down begins in many countries around the world. That means empty cities and locked communities bring another bad time for our local economy. Online shopping will increase again and the biggest winner of this is already known. We need to act — now!
Today’s eCommerce platforms are providers and users of the platform at the same time. For example, Amazon provides a Marketplace for users like People and Companies and also acts as a Seller with its own products. The users, which sell products through the marketplace need to pay a fee, which will often add to the product price. Amazon doesn’t need to pay a fee for their own marketplace. That means, that the market rules are not equal for everybody and Amazon easily kicks out counter parties and becomes bigger and bigger. Where is the end?
There is no end. Monopolies and platforms aim to grow infinity and conquer the whole global market.
But hey, there are a lot of other global players which provide marketplaces. Yes, but they started acting locally and grow to get a global awareness. It’s just a matter of time, and one marketplace will become the monopoly. We’re still at the beginning of eCommerce.
Stop the rolling stone!
We need to stop this! But what is the alternative? A new platform? A non profit organization behind it? Platform providers are not allowed to also use their own platform? Monopoly division?
You see, it’s not that easy to answer this question.
LACE UP!
To answer this question in a global context, we need you! We know, monopolies are a bug problem in the eCommerce which erases our local economy step by step. Help us to find a better way and walk it with us.
