3 Tricks I Use to Fight Laziness
Stop Laziness And Publish Your Drafts
Even if you’re a workaholic sometimes laziness won’t let you out of the bedroom or out of the house.
And even as a writer, you’re not left out.
You’ve got a lot to do but some days laziness won’t just allow you to get moving.
You're not alone. I feel like that occasionally, too, and when I don't have anything serious to attend to, I just allow my lazy body to have its way.
I will share with you 3 tricks I use to kick off laziness whenever I have something important to attend to.
These tricks may seem to be humorous, but they've worked for me; they're effective ways to get you off the sofa and back to being productive.
The 10-Minute Dare:
Try this 10-minute dare with me if you're someone who takes dares seriously.
Challenge yourself to do anything – yes, anything! – for just 10 minutes.
You can choose maybe to clean your drawer, do a few jumping jacks, or write a few paragraphs for your next story.
What I do here basically is to set a timer and dare myself to keep going.
Often, getting started is the hardest part for me but once I’m up, I just keep going.
Blend Productivity With Pleasure:
This is where I treat myself like a dog but in a good way!
It’s funny but sometimes I set small goals and reward myself with silly treats or activities.
For I could watch a funny video, eat a cookie, or play with a puppy after doing something my laziness wouldn’t allow me initially.
The idea here is to defeat laziness and make it unappealing by associating pleasure with productivity.
The "5-Second Rule" Dance Party:
Whenever I feel so lazy that I don't know what to do, I count down to 5, jump up to my feet, and dance to my favorite beat song for at least 1 minute.
The energy boost will shock your laziness away. Mel Robbins, author of "The 5 Second Rule," swears by this trick too.
There you have it – three quirky strategies to conquer laziness.
Remember, it's all about tricking your brain into taking action.
