I’ve been grouchy recently, easily angered, testy and moody; all of that lovely and oh-so-loveable crap. None of it is caused by anything but feathers that I’d normally laugh at and brush away, but sometimes too many feathers clog up everything, cloud your vision, and get in the way of anything you want to do.

I feel buried under a haystack sized pile of feathers.

The heat

We are under a heat dome in New England. So is a lot of the country, there is nothing special about it. Physically, it doesn’t affect me much. I’m thin, in good shape; I sweat a bit if I’m outside for long, but I hardly notice it. Also, we are only twenty miles from the Atlantic coast south and east of us, so we aren’t suffering this as much as others have to.

But emotionally? My lizard brain is setting off alarms! Maybe it’s the foreboding knowledge of global warming. Maybe it is the certain knowledge that the air quality is decreasing.

And don’t forget the pollen that sets off explosive sneezes every morning until my Claritin and Flonase kick in.

It’s just feathers. Nothing all that critical, nothing all that annoying. We have central air conditioning, drapes and shades to keep out…
