I was thinking about the shipping industry and how it might respond to changes in trade and with the environment. Would trade be fragmented, less globalised, and less in demand? How much of shipping might have to change in response to carbon emissions? Will they have to change the way ships are built? Ships might have to change their propulsion systems to accommodate less carbon-intensive alternatives, and to build new classes of ships, for a world more sensitive to carbon considerations.
