Quill Team Profiles — Max Buck, Software Developer
Max is a Software Developer with a passion for writing. Before joining Quill, Max studied Computer Science at Ohio State University, worked for a number of different startups, and spent three months traveling around the country in a gutted Toyota 4Runner.
Why Quill?
I grew up planning to be a novelist, and as my career aspirations changed, I never lost my joy of putting pen to paper. Having a chance to combine software and writing is really exciting for me, and Quill offers amazing challenges in both fields. How neat is it to spend time working on technical problems like natural language processing, and know your work will directly help students aiming to improve their mastery of the written word?
Favorite Quill Tool?
Quill Connect. Sentence combining with large or many sentences is pretty neat. I love that it encourages students to be creative with their answers — to be a good communicator it is important to see all the different ways of putting words together to give them power.
Hobbies outside of Quill?
When I’m outside of Quill, I can often be found walking my dog, writing or performing poetry, or fooling around writing programs and websites for fun.
