The first episode of Another Open Source Podcast is live!
AOSP is a community podcast that invites members of the open source and open science worlds in for a casual chat. It is recorded in front of a live “studio” audience that can participate and engage with the hosts and guests through the text or voice chat. We invite you to help us build and grow this initiative! There is plenty of ways to get involved including helping to edit, promote, design images, build a website, develop a presence on social media, and create audio for our intro and outro. You can even host an episode if you’d like! There are 5 forms so far that will help you get involved.
- Another Guest: Submit a guest for us to reach out to… including yourself! You don’t need to have created Python to join the show as a guest.
- Another Topic: Suggest a topic for a future episode!
- Another Parent: Sacrifice Volunteer your parents to join us for an episode of “Another Parent of Open Source” where we ask parents what they think open source is and, most importantly, what exactly do they think their kid does?
- Another Host: Volunteer to host an episode!
- Another Community: Suggest a community where we can host a live recording of a future episode! Right now recordings take place on the Scientific Python Discord server, but there are so many other communities in the space that we want to engage!
In this first episode, our hosts dive into the origins, culture, and exciting future of the SciPy conference with guests Paul Ivanov and Madicken Munk, and a good number of the Scientific Python community. They share personal experiences, highlight memorable moments, and discuss what makes SciPy unique and essential for the open source and scientific Python community.
