David explained restaurants need to recognize that catering is different from their regular business activities; catering has different buyer persona, different needs, and different methods of production. The check size on catering delivery is often 10x the size as what consumer delivery is. Catering is more profitable for restaurants because they are spreading out the labor costs across a much larger check size.
According to Technomic, catering is growing 50% faster than the restaurant industry as a whole. Catering is not only profitable, it is also growing very quickly.
