to join our Advisory Board!
2019 will be a critical year for the Open Data Charter as we finalise the revision of our Principles and work with our board to help cement political consensus around the idea that just and equitable societies will be built on data that is open by default, coupled with efforts to safeguard privacy and security.
We are looking for a new passionate member to join our board in supporting the delivery of our mission — to help instil a culture of open and responsible data use in governments and its citizens and to see this shift help solve some of the most pressing policy challenges of our time and create just societies and innovative economies.
While seeking to achieve greater diversity, we especially encourage applications from female candidates and are looking for someone who:
- Has a track record around the use and impact of open data,
- Has an understanding of the Charter mission and its goals,
- Is willing to commit to supporting our strategy through our quarterly calls (see more on board roles and responsibility), and
- Can act as ambassador for the Charter at a global scale.

The Open Data Charter was founded in 2015 as a collaboration between governments and experts who came together and agreed six Principles for how governments should be publishing information. The shared aspiration was that data should be open by default, timely and interoperable. More than 100 governments and organisations have since committed to the Charter.
