Open Energy Market was judged to be the “clear winner” of the Consultant of Tomorrow category at this year’s TELCA Awards. The awards ceremony, hosted at the Honourable Artillery Company in London on 28th June, was attended by the representatives from all major players of the diverse energy consultancy sector and leading energy suppliers.

TELCA was established in 2013 by the leading dedicated energy news site Energy Live News, with the intention to set a benchmark for the consultancy market and establish a gold standard for best practice and transparency. Five years have seen the awards ceremony grow to become a key part of the calendar for third-party intermediaries. Earlier this year, the awards show claimed the prize for Best New Awards Ceremony at GCN’s Awards Awards 2017.

This was the inaugural year for the Consultant of Tomorrow category, an award established in recognition of the fast-changing energy consultant environment.

Paul Miller, Head of Customer Solutions at the category sponsor DONG Energy explained that, “We’re looking to reward innovation in the broker channel. We see the broker channel as innovative and is actually driving real change in the energy market today.”

“We want to reward brokers that are actually offering customers choice and value for money, and I think a broker of tomorrow award is a great way to go.”

The strong category shortlist included Almach, BIU, Businesswise Solutions, Eutility, The Green Energy Advice Bureau and Utility Trade. To find the overall winner, nominees passed through two rounds of judging by leaders in the energy consultancy field.

In naming Open Energy Market the winner, the judges found, “Open Energy Market were clear winners with a really fascinating proposition. The whole business has been automated to enhance the customer experience and optimise trading, which impressed us greatly.”

Accepting the award, Open Energy Market CEO Chris Maclean said, “This is humbling really. We’ve worked long and hard and this is a fantastic validation of all the hard work we put in and an endorsement for what we’ve got planned for the future.”
