Ragnar Nurkse Department of Innovation and Governance (RND) based at Tallinn University of Technology in Tallinn, Estonia has taken the lead in building a new open government data (OGD) driven public service in Estonia. This pilot is being developed as part of the OpenGovIntelligence project that is funded by the EU’s Horizon2020 program. Collaborating with the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications RND has been successful in facilitating the opening up of new datasets in Estonia, and is now working together with Statistics Estonia to continually progress and drive open data development within the country.

The service aims to fight information asymmetry in Tallinn’s real estate market by bringing together open datasets from many different sources into one user-friendly and easy to use portal.

Explore different Data Sources

For the first time, people moving to Tallinn from abroad will be able to find out how safe the streets are, where crime does or does not occur, how their children’s school performs, or information about potential environmental pollutants. A simple proof-of-concept application is now available online and the code is available as open source on GitHub.

Visualize information that is important to you

As more data becomes available, the service will become improved and new datasets will be added. In addition, the ability for users to perform statistical analysis, download the used data, and export results is in the works, so stay tuned!
