OpenTelemetry at KubeCon EU 2020
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation just announced the schedule for KubeCon EU 2020. And it’s exciting to see how many interesting talks we will be having! Here is a short overview of the OpenTelemetry related talks.
Intro to observability
Regardless of your role or the level of engagement with observability, you can get started with these introductory talks. Isobel will talk about three pillars of observability and Nina will explain how front end developers can use OpenTelemetry. You may also be interested to hear an introduction to tracing and learn about the features of Jaeger from Pavol and Ben.

The future
As you are getting excited about OpenTelemetry come learn what is in the works — and how you can contribute. Carlos with Alex, and Steve with Trask will talk about how OpenTelemetry makes it easier to get started with the observability and then scale it using OpenTelemetry Collector.

Other
There are more topics in Observability track that you may find interesting. However, as OpenTelemetry project aspiration is to make robust, portable telemetry a built-in feature of cloud-native software, you will hear about Observability all around the conference. Topics like Service Mesh, Serverless, continuous deployment have telemetry at their very foundation.
Also if you are into standards discussions — the W3C Distributed Tracing workshop is planned ahead of KubeCon in Linz, Austria. Participate in agenda discussion.
Summary
If you’re hoping to attend KubeCon EU this year, I hope this article gives you more incentives to go learn about OpenTelemetry and meet the OpenTelemetry crowd.
