As we wrote a few days ago in this post, OpenTelemetry is kicking off its first formal election for the four empty slots on the Governance Committee.

The next step in the process is the call for nominations. Details can also be found here – but briefly: if you would like to nominate yourself and/or others (it’s fine to make multiple nominations), send an email to cncf-opentelemetry-governance@lists.cncf.io with the following information about the nominee:

  • Full name
  • GitHub alias
  • Company affiliation
  • Short bio and/or reasoning to join the Governance committee (no more than a short paragraph)
  • E-mail (will not be shared publicly, only used for communication)
  • Optional: photo/picture of a nominee

As per charter document, anybody is eligible to run.

The current Governance Committee (or an appointed representative) will contact each nominee directly to ensure the commitment and desire to be nominated. Note that, in order for the nomination to be ratified, three members of standing—each with different employers — must endorse the nomination (though this does not need to happen before the nomination is made).

All nominations must be submitted before 12:00pm PT on October 9 (complete election schedule here).

That’s it! Please reach out to the Governance Committee at cncf-opentelemetry-governance@lists.cncf.io with any questions or concerns.
