The OpenTelemetry project just completed its election for the Governance Committee (GC). Five out of nine seats were up for election this year. After this year’s election was announced, it was great to see a healthy number of eleven candidates applying to serve the community. Post election, the project will have the first fully-elected GC.

Voting for the election was held October 25–27. The election subcommittee consisting of Liz Fong-Jones, Daniel Dyla and Alolita Sharma was thrilled to see the enthusiasm of the participants and ensured transparency and success of the election. 386 members were eligible for voting of which 169 members voted for a total of 43.78% members voting. The results of the election were tabulated and verified by the election subcommittee after the election was closed. The five candidates who got the highest votes were elected and are Ben Sigelman, Bogdan Drutu, Juraci Paixão Kröhling, Ted Young and Yuri Shkuro.

The new Governance Committee, per the Governance Committee Charter, in alphabetical order now consists of -

I’d like to welcome our returning and new governance committee members on behalf of the committee and the community. I’d also like to thank our three outgoing governance committee members — Constance Caramanolis, Sarah Novotny and Sergey Kanzhelev for their contributions to the project and for their leadership. And I’d like to thank our awesome community for making this election a great success.
