It’s been just a few weeks since we got back from Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, and let us tell you, it was a gold mine of information for anyone interested in the future of intelligent connectivity! From cutting-edge AI applications to the ever-evolving world of edge computing and IoT, MWC offered AI aficionados and edge enthusiasts a glimpse into the exciting world where these technologies converge.

From Edge to AI Everywhere

While we showcased our AI solutions such as Intel® Geti™ and OpenVINO™, AI expanded beyond our proofs of concept and stole the show at MWC. Every booth buzzed with excitement from the latest advancements in the field, and the ecosystem of Intel partners showcased all their latest innovations. And we are not just talking about the latest smartphones but groundbreaking advancements in AI — from cutting-edge generative AI to powerful language models pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

Continue reading for more examples on how AI supercharges hardware capabilities beyond the cloud and shapes the future of mobile connectivity in ways we never imagined — and how Intel helps fuel the growth with its ecosystem of partners.

Our Big Reveal: The Intel® Tiber™ Edge Platform

But first let’s talk about the highlight of the show for us. Intel launched its new Intel Tiber Edge Platform, an edge-native software platform designed to simplify development, deployment, and management of edge AI solutions. Through an unmatched partner ecosystem, the platform enables enterprises to implement these solutions on standard hardware with cloud-like simplicity.

The Edge Platform directly addresses the growing demand for data at the edge in the realm of AI and edge computing.

With cloud-like scalability and management, bult-in AI runtime and development, and hybrid implementations, developers can access powerful AI capabilities and tools necessary for a range of edge AI applications. The excitement of this innovative platform was evident from the countless conversations we had at our booth with AI developers and enterprise technical decision-makers — all eager to get their hands on the platform and start making transformative impacts in their business and industries.

Beyond the Cloud: The Rise of Edge AI

The possibilities that this new platform brings to the edge and the next frontier of cloud are immense. The interest surrounding the Edge Platform represents the ongoing need for intelligent processing capabilities at the network edge, especially as more and more devices become connected. These advancements allow data to be moved and analyzed closer to its source, paving the way for game-changing applications such as predictive maintenance and remote monitoring. At MWC 2024, numerous innovative edge devices were showcased, ranging from smart wearables equipped with on-device AI for real-time health monitoring to powerful industrial-edge gateways capable of processing complex data locally.

If one thing was clear from the event, it was that edge AI is here to stay.

Another exciting aspect of the conference was seeing how AI, edge computing, and IoT are converging to create a truly intelligent and connected world. In manufacturing, AI-powered camera systems are used to communicate with devices and factory managers in real time to improve operations and make impactful changes. In retail, real-time insights obtained from video analytics empower store managers to address low inventory, long lines, and accidents immediately for better customer service. Possibilities enabled by these technologies are truly endless, and we can’t wait to see how they continue to transform our world.
