Here is your weekly roundup of human trafficking stories in the news. We hope to highlight the good work that U.S. law enforcement and citizens are doing to fight human trafficking across the country. O.U.R. was not involved unless specified.

GBI: 9 indicted on federal charges in Southeast Georgia child sex trafficking investigation

9 men were charged for child sex trafficking-related offenses by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This was part of Operation Do You Know Your Neighbor, which was focused on finding those seeking to abuse children.

Men Arrested For Human Trafficking Of Juveniles In Stockton

A 26-year-old and 27-year-old were arrested for trafficking minors in California. They were charged with human trafficking of a juvenile, pimping, pandering, and unlawful intercourse with a minor.

Dept. of Transportation permanently bans commercial drivers convicted of human trafficking

The Department of Transportation officially banned anyone who has been convicted of human trafficking to be a commercial driver. Although a list of offenses that disqualify certain people from driving commercial vehicles already exists, human trafficking was not listed until now.

Chamber cuts ribbon for Coalition to Combat Human Trafficking

In Texas, the Central Fort Bend Chamber held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Coalition to Combat Human Trafficking. The coalition fights the specific issues related to trafficking in this area of Texas.

Mother, man accused of sex trafficking 6-year-old in court for hearing

These two people were arrested by police for human trafficking and other child abuse charges during a sting earlier this year. The mother has been accused for selling her 6-year-old daughter to the other man involved for sexual favors. Hearings are scheduled to continue soon.
