Thirty-two-year-old Ophelia has spent her life in the same small, dying town with her big, complicated family. She went to the state college but came home to marry the man she’s loved since childhood. For years, she’s watched everyone around her seek chemical comfort as they lose jobs and hope.
When she finds her younger sister dead beside the river of an apparent overdose, she assumes it’s a tragic accident. But when another sister ODs under identical circumstances, she wonders whether her family is cursed — or marked for murder.
Desperate for answers, Ophelia unravels her family’s tangled past of addiction and lies. She must find the truth…or die trying.
