Introducing Cheshire

Opium Team presents Cheshire cat avatars. It is a unique NFT that can be used for verification, achievements, reputation, or access to special products. Your Opium avatar may be transferable, however, the recipient’s address must confirm that it belongs to the same person.

Your avatar is a smart, wonderful, mystical, and magical creature — the Cheshire cat. For now, Cheshire has the most important part of its body — the smile and later can be upgraded with colored fur, clothes, and more attributes that will give him different super-skills in the DeFi world.

We are ready for Metaverse! And you?

Cheshire cats are not part of Opium Protocol but can be used to identify or verify users and community members for various purposes. For example, a fully regulated company that builds on top of the protocol will have an opportunity to use Cheshire as an ID to provide basic/extra services.

With our community we believe that DeFi will grow substantially, therefore it will require solutions for verifications and differentiation of user roles. Cheshire will have a set of parameters and achievements that will allow to get unique services and features directly from smart contracts.

How to mint

Initial minting of Cheshire cats will start around the New Year date for those users of Opium.Finance who accepted and signed the Terms and Conditions of that platform before 25 December 2021 and has a basic verification level. From January 2022 more companies who develop on Opium Protocol may utilize this amazing “Know Your Cat” feature.

Next steps — think of more

Before Cheshire can travel to Metaverse it should acquire a few attributes, get fur and clothes, unique reputation, and look. Various projects and developers will be allowed to add genes to the Cheshire DNA, however, the main genes will always stay unique since minted. Based on the DNA records on-chain and off-chain logic can be verified and triggered.

There can be special liquidity pools created for users with needed verification (ready for verification, “halal” finance, closed communities, etc). One can also get special rewards based on the Cheshire level (GameFi, Metaverse). It is a perfect instrument for community building, as Cheshire can have tons of unique skills and attributes that are acquired through his life. Your Cheshire is not equal to your wallet, you will be able to transfer it to your other wallets, but not to others.

Imagine that a multi-sig wallet can be controlled by Cheshires instead of specified addresses. Or imagine one can directly verify ratings, reputation, and achievements of the user to provide him a small non-collateralized loan or invite him to the community. Think of decentralized verification, privileged products, or reputation system. So it can be proof of identity, status, achievements, or involvement in DeFi protocols.

One last point, it looks cool. It is really up to the developers and builders how they will utilize your Cheshire. As a first step, we would like to present the Metaverse-ready cat.
