If you’re looking for a health insurance plan that will follow you from job to job and is likely cheaper than what your state exchange offers, look no further than Opolis’ Employment Commons. Together, with other freelancers, you can access portable and affordable benefits, including health, life, disability, unemployment, and retirement options.

How Do I Sign Up for Opolis’ Employment Commons?

Enroll During Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is the time of year in the U.S. when anyone can sign up for a health insurance plan or switch plans. In most states, it starts November 1st and ends December 15th. This is also the time you can renew any health coverage you have previously had, but if you need to evaluate your options, this is the time period to do so.

Enroll Outside of Open Enrollment

Outside of the U.S. Open Enrollment period, you can only sign up for health insurance if you’ve recently lost coverage from a job or had another kind of “qualifying life event.” Qualifying life events are a change in your situation, like getting married, having a baby, or losing your health coverage, which makes you eligible for a Special Enrollment Period outside of the annual Open Enrollment period.

Where to Sign Up

If you’re interested in joining Opolis’ Employment Commons, the easiest way to sign up is by registering right here or scheduling a call with one of our member specialists. Our specialists can start by getting you a quote so you know what you’ll be saving, and tell you about our different coverage plans. It takes about five minutes for our team to put together your quote and help you start the enrollment process.

How to Sign Up

Having the right information at your fingertips during the enrollment process will help things go smoothly once you start your application. Gather the following information for yourself and any family members who are going to be on your health plan:

  • Full legal name.
  • Date of birth.
  • Social Security number.
  • Immigration information like visa or green card numbers, if applicable.
  • Business information like your EIN number, your General Liability Insurance Policy (if you have one), how often you spend work time traveling, and your LLC/S-Corp information.
  • Information including the gross amount each person in your household expects to earn in the upcoming year before taxes, your number of allowances, your bank account routing and account numbers, and your cryptocurrency wallet information if you plan to be paid this way.

After registering your email for membership, you’ll receive a magic link via email to sign in to your account with Opolis. You can then begin entering your enrollment information.

After you complete your enrollment application, you’ll receive a confirmation via email within 1–5 business days with your effective benefits start date. This is the date your coverage begins. Your benefits will start on the first day of the month following the start of your employment, and enrollment must have been 100% completed at least 5 days prior to the first of the month for your benefits to take effect.

Ready to get started? It all starts with getting a free, personalized quote, or chatting with one of our member specialists about the benefits that are right for you. Schedule your call today!
