OPO.js meetup #9: Speaker Profiles 🗣
Meetup #9 is right around the corner, it’s time you get to know our speakers.
Victor Bjelkholm — Creator of Open-Services and Open-Registry
With all the fuss around package managers, NPM, and community, Victor takes a radical approach and is leading the charge with Open Registry, and we’re curious about what it could mean for the open source community.
Moved to Spain seeking sunnier landscapes, ended up as a developer by learning from open source and free tutorials. During his career, Victor has worked on projects ranging from vacation rentals to distributed networks (and some forms in-between) mainly at Typeform and Protocol Labs.
This granted Victor the opportunity to help projects in every stage, from getting them off the ground, to development, continued support, and sometimes even sunsetting.
After learning and participating in Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS), Victor is now trying to help solve some of its weaker points, mostly around centralised infrastructure, and providing a service to users, most of whom are developers.
Foundational to this effort is Open Services, a framework for operating FOSS services in the open, such as package registries and other services considered core for developers of FOSS, out of which sprouted Open Registry, a JavaScript Package Registry funded, developed and maintained by the community, for the community.
We look forward to seeing what Victor will be sharing with the community next June the 19th (this Wednesday!!). 💪
