Small discovery of the day: netselect

I just found a very cool utility today: netselect. It compares given hosts and answer which one is better (in terms of network connectivity). It’s a handy tool to choose a mirror for apt, or just to compare sites to each other. Under the hood it’s just a bundled together ping with traceroute.

For example, for my location google.com is better then bing.com, but bing.com is better then netflix.com, which in turn is better then yahoo.co.jp.
