The Chase Ink Preferred signup bonus of 80k UR is an excellent offer. An ever better deal is getting it again for 100k UR (80k offer +20k for referring yourself).

Is this your first business card? Read this guide first.

Prerequisites:
• You must have used your SSN when applying for your first CIP
• You need an Employer Identification Number (EIN)
• You must be under 5/24

To get your EIN, visit this IRS website and complete the form as a sole proprietor.

You will need to select Sole Proprietor 3 times in a row

It will walk your through some basic name and address verification steps and in under 5 minutes you will have your EIN. It will display on screen so be sure to save it somewhere safe. I keep this type of sensitive account info stored in LastPass.

Give it a couple days after you create your EIN before you apply. This will lower your odds of having to do recon for a denied application.

Need help hitting the Minimum Spend? I outline a few strategies in my beginners guide.

Next, you need your referral link. This can be generated with the Chase Refer-A-Friend site. Just fill in your info and you are good to go.

When you apply for your second CIP, use your EIN instead of your SSN. That’s the only difference. Fill out the rest just as you did for your first CIP.

You will likely need to submit a few supporting documents in order to be approved:

  • Your EIN paperwork from the IRS
  • Address verification (government ID, insurance card, utility bill, cable bill)

The letter I received from Chase recommended I fax these documents but since it’s 2018 I got an email address from a phone support rep instead. You need to use your reference number as the subject line when emailing psde.center(at)chase.com to submit these documents.
